Synopsis
After their humiliating 999th defeat, Charlie Brown's whole baseball team quits on him. All seems lost...until Charlie Brown learns that his team can join the Little League and become an official team with real uniforms! But as the team's enthusiasm sparks, Charlie Brown learns that neither girls nor Snoopy would be allowed to play. Charlie Brown faces the difficult decision of breaking this horrible news to his excited team.

Okay look, my boy Charlie may not be able to catch a baseball to save his life, but at least he isn’t an utter SIMP in this short film like his little sister Sally is. YOU HEAR THAT, SALLY? YOU’RE A S-I-M-P! JOIN THE NATION!
Anyways, WOW. This Peanuts short was hella woke for 1966! It pokes major jabs at the “elite” baseball league’s prejudices towards allowing women players and...dog players... into participating sport events. Charlie Brown sacrificed his big break in a baseball career to maintain standards for the women and...dogs... on his team. He’s the homie, y’all!
I like how you don’t ever see the opposing team when the gang are competitively playing baseball.…

charlie brown’s character arc in this feels oddly similar to his in a charlie brown christmas, but it’s great to see him taking a stand for women and animal rights here! the special overall isn’t particularly standout or memorable, besides bc of that positive element, but it’s still a decent peanuts installment.
