Buffy’s bedding is made from eco-conscious materials that keep cool, making it a great place for those who prioritize sustainability, as well as hot sleepers, to shop. The brand sells comforters, sheets, blankets, pillows, and mattress protectors, and it has a Eucalyptus and a Sustainable Linen collection.
The Buffy Cloud Comforter is one of the brand’s most-loved items: it’s a medium-weight, dry-clean-only option with a soft, smooth, and cool feel. Right out of the package, we loved its breathable shell, which is made of sustainably sourced material lyocell.
As for sheet options, we're big fans of the Breeze Sheet Set. After using the eucalyptus sheets over the course of a few weeks during our long-term testing process, we appreciated their soft feel and that they don’t wrinkle a ton after being washed.
Buffy offers seven-day free trials on its products. That means you can sleep and use one of its products for seven days, and if you don’t want to keep it, you can return it free of charge. All other returns have to be initiated within 30 days, and refunds will be processed within five business days.
You won’t have to wait long for your bedding items to ship, since Buffy will ship anything you order the next business day. Basic ground shipping is free, while expedited shipping is an additional $29.99.

Cozy Earth

What We Don’t Like
Limited catalog
For those who are willing to splurge for a restful night’s sleep, Cozy Earth is well worth the initial investment. While Cozy Earth is definitely on the higher end of the bedding price range (at press time, the brand's bedding products ranged from around $90 to over $600), we’ve found that the selection is high-quality and design-forward.
In particular, we loved the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set when we tried it. The sheets have a supremely soft texture, keep cool throughout the night, and boast a high-end construction.
Because Cozy Earth’s selection is fairly limited, you won’t be able to choose from as many products as you would on larger retailers like Amazon. However, we appreciate that Cozy Earth keeps it simple in terms of its offerings, and we’re confident you’ll be able to find what you’re searching for fairly quickly.
It’s important to note that the majority of its bedding is made with viscose from bamboo, but the brand offers a few cashmere, linen, and silk options as well.
Cozy Earth also offers free standard ground shipping, which usually arrives in around three to five business days. However, if you require expedited shipping, you’ll have to pay an additional fee.

What bedding do you need?
Everyone's bedding preferences are different, but at the very least you'll need a fitted sheet, pillowcases, and a cover of some sort. In Europe, it's more common to forego a flat sheet and use a removable, washable duvet cover instead. This is becoming a popular approach in the U.S. as well, which is reflected in the retailers on our list that offer sheet sets without a top sheet. A more traditional American sheet set will include a fitted sheet, top sheet, and one or two (depending on bed size) pillowcases. If you prefer to sleep with more pillows, be sure to order extra pillowcases or matching shams.
When it comes to choosing a cover, it mostly comes down to your temperature preference. A heavy-duty duvet insert in down or down alternative is the warmest option and can be made even warmer with extra blankets. A quilt or coverlet is a good option for hot sleepers, as is a lightweight duvet with a breathable cover made of linen or percale cotton.

What We Don't Like
Quality can vary greatly
Wide product offering can be overwhelming
Boasting an extensive catalog of reputable sellers, Amazon can be a great one-stop shop for all things bedding. Whether you’re looking for comforters, sheet sets, pillows, or mattresses, you can find them on the online powerhouse.
We also love that Amazon carries many of our favorite brands, including Brooklinen, Cozy Earth, and Buffy. In particular, you can shop our top picks including the Olive + Crate Eucalyptus Tencel Fiber Sheet Set (our top eucalyptus sheet set) and the Bampure 100% Organic Bamboo Sheets.
Amazon’s website itself is very easy to navigate, especially if you’re already familiar with shopping on the online retailer. However, the catalog is so extensive that the sheer amount of options can be overwhelming to the average consumer—so if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you may find yourself browsing for quite some time.
To help you out, Amazon allows you to sort through the options using search filters, including material, color, thread count, pattern, size, ratings, and Prime availability. This makes it easier to narrow down your search for even specialty items like reading pillows.
Note that when shopping, you’ll want to make sure to read reviews carefully, as the quality of Amazon’s products can vary greatly from seller to seller.
We found that the overall purchasing and returning process was efficient, straightforward, and reliable. Plus, if you have a Prime membership, you can likely receive your product in one to three days with no added shipping costs. Amazon’s return window for most products is 30 days, but some seller return policies may vary, so you’ll want to double-check that before purchasing.

Only two retail locations
Brooklinen became a fast favorite after its founding in 2014, quickly earning the title of one of the top destinations to shop for bedding. It offers a wide range of both classic and more contemporary bedding options, with comfy choices that range from sheet sets to duvet covers to cozy blankets. Brooklinen also sells comforters, quilts, pillows, mattress toppers, throw blankets, and more, providing everything you need to create a beautifully plush and welcoming bedroom.
Some of Brooklinen's top-selling items are its Luxe Sateen and Classic Percale sheets, which are available in numerous mix-and-match sets. We particularly love the brand's Luxe Core Sheet Set (which we tested at home), a pick that's soft to the touch, highly breathable, and nicely durable according to our in-person experience testing and using the sheets.
We're also fans of Brooklinen's Lightweight Quilt, another product we tested at home—the beautiful bedding layer is hand-stitched and easy to clean right in your own washer and dryer. This retailer's product line is also wonderfully modern, with a range of colorful hues that change from season to season and an array of different fabrics for every type of sleeper, from cotton to linen to heathered cashmere.
When shopping on Brooklinen’s website, we found the whole experience easy, and building your own bedding bundles is straightforward and cost-efficient. We also appreciate that discount codes are automatically applied to your chart upon checkout, so you don’t have to worry about hunting for them.
Additionally, Brooklinen offers free standard shipping on any orders over $100 to most of the U.S., but you’ll have to pay extra for expedited shipping. Just note that Brooklinen charges a $9.95 return fee, which will be deducted from your refund amount.

Parachute was started as a direct-to-consumer bedding company, but this retailer specializes in more earthy styles—think lots of green, brown, and burnt orange hues and plenty of cozy textures. Linen sheets are one of its best-selling products, but the brand also offers other common bedding fabrics including percale, sateen, and brushed cotton options as well.
With a clean, modern aesthetic, you'll find that each piece of Parachute's bedding fits seamlessly into any bedroom. Plus, as an added perk, Parachute has a specific focus on sustainability. Many of the brand's bedding essentials are GOTS certified, and the company carries a Climate Neutral Certification.
We’ve tried out the Percale Sheet Set for ourselves, and we love its lightweight structure and crisp yet soft texture. After conducting at-home testing, we are also fans of the retailer’s Linen Venice Sheet Set, which has a refined and lived-in look, is exceptionally breathable, and feels impressively soft.
In addition to sheets and comforters, Parachute has expanded to offer more bedroom essentials, including pillows, mattress toppers, and even the Eco Comfort Mattress, a unique mattress-in-a-box that’s made from pocketed steel coils and pure wool instead of memory foam.

You can feel good about purchasing bedding from Boll & Branch. This direct-to-consumer brand is the first Fair Trade-certified manufacturer of linens, and it solely uses organic cotton and sustainable raw materials.
We appreciate the retailer’s exceptional focus on sustainability, and its products are top-tier. This does mean that the products are higher priced, but we think they're well worth it for those who want to invest in high-quality bedding.
Boll & Branch sells sateen, percale, flannel, and chambray sheets, which can be purchased individually or as a set, and it also sells duvets, blankets, pillows, mattresses, and more. While we’ve tried a lot of its products, we particularly loved the Signature Hemmed Sheet Set, which has a lightweight construction, feels exceptionally soft, and is made from organic long-staple cotton. We also loved its luxurious mattress, which is supportive yet soft, cooling, and provides top-notch comfort.
When shopping on the Boll & Branch website, we found that browsing and searching proved to be very intuitive, and we had no issues on this front. Plus, the retailer offers complimentary shipping on all U.S. orders, which we love. However, keep in mind that if you want to make a return, it must be made within 30 days with products in “original, salable condition with original tags and packaging.”

Target

Great value
Excellent return policy on Target brands
What We Don't Like
Quality isn’t as high
You can get the most bang for your buck when you shop for bedding at Target. This department store has several well-regarded in-house bedding brands, such as Threshold and Casaluna, and the quality is quite impressive, considering the reasonable prices.
The choices are vast and varied, as you'll find everything from basic white cotton sheets in a variety of thread counts to seasonally inspired patterns in the hottest hues of the moment. Comforters, duvets and duvet inserts, blankets and throws, shams, and pillows–you'll find options in every category of bedding here. We love the Threshold 400 Thread Count Performance Sheet Set, which is soft and smooth, very breathable, and offers a ton of value at a low price point.
While trying to shop for bedding with a catalog so large can be quite daunting, Target’s easy-to-use website makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. Shipping tends to be on the quicker side, but for some items, you can even opt for in-store pickup.
When it comes to style, we like that Target's products are often on the cusp of the latest trends in terms of colors and patterns. However, quality is a bit of a pain point; since you're scoring lower prices on bedding items of all kinds, you should expect somewhat lower quality. Target sheets, based on our testing experience, can be prone to color fading and signs of wear within a few uses. However, you can return items from Target-owned brands for up to a year after purchase, which is a key perk.
Return Window: 90 days | Return Policy: New or unopened items can be returned or exchanged | Payment Options: Credit or debit, Target RedCard, Afterpay, Klarna, Zip, Affirm, Sezzle, PayPal

Quality can vary
While Lands’ End may be known primarily as a clothing retailer, the company also boasts a vast catalog of home products. Under the Lands’ End bedding page, you’ll find an extensive selection of sheets, quilts, pillows, duvets, blankets, bed skirts, and more.
At press time, there were 450 products across all bedding categories—plus, with so many options, you can find a range of price points that fit most budgets. You can shop budget-friendly cotton sheet sets starting at around $30, or opt to splurge on luxury bedding made with premium materials like linen, which run over $300. The retailer offers a number of popular bedding brands on its website, including Martha Stewart, Harper Lane, Beautyrest, and of course, Lands’ End’s proprietary line.
We’ve tested a few of the retailer’s products out for ourselves and noticed some inconsistent quality across products. But some of Lands' End's sheet sets have performed really well and topped our product roundups, including the breathable, super-soft Premium Supima Cotton Percale Bed Sheet Set, and the luxuriously silky Premium Supima Cotton No Iron Sateen Bed Sheet Set.
Overall, we have found the website to be relatively easy to navigate, as the retailer allows you to filter by size, material, color, features, clearance, customer rating, and more. You can also customize many products with personalized monograms or embroidery. Lands' End also offers free standard shipping for purchases over $99, which should deliver between four to ten days to most addresses.

Shipping times may be slightly longer than competitors
If you’re looking for luxury bedding at a moderate price point, you’ll definitely want to check out Quince. Compared to its other direct-to-consumer competitors, Quince offers lower prices while still maintaining high-quality construction and a focus on sustainability. At press time, Quince offered over 80 bedding products across all categories. This includes sheet sets, duvet covers, quilts, shams, bedding accessories, and more.
While it may cost over $200 to buy an organic sheet set elsewhere, Quince offers similar sets starting at under $100. We also love that it offers lots of organic products on its website, including organic percale, sateen, and bamboo sheets.
We’ve tried the Quince Luxury Organic Sateen Sheet Set, and we were impressed with its sturdy and durable construction, top-notch breathability, and exceptional softness.
When shopping on the Quince website, we found it easy to filter through all of the options and find what we were looking for. The retailer also offers free standard shipping with no minimum, as well as free returns for added convenience. However, Quince’s shipping time is slightly longer than many of its competitors at six to nine business days, so if you’re in a time crunch, you may need to pay extra for expedited shipping.

What We Don't Like
Limited color options
Whether you’re looking for uniquely designed bedding or want to stick to the basics, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for at Kassatex. This luxury brand offers a moderately large selection of sheet sets, duvet covers, coverlets, pillowcases, and more. The retailer’s prices tend to run a bit higher than some of its competitors; however, this tends to be reflected in the products' quality construction and stylish designs.
One product we have tested and recommend from Kassatex’s bedding selection is the Bamboo Sateen Sheet Set—it has a buttery soft texture, sturdy construction, and impressive durability. We’re also fans of the Kassatex European White Goose Down Pillow, which is exceptionally comfortable, suitable for any sleeping position, and available in three firmness levels.
When shopping on Kassatex's website, we found it easy to navigate and find what we were looking for. You can sort through the options by fabric type, price point, color, and size, depending on what type of bedding you’re looking for. Keep in mind that the color selection is more limited to classic neutrals, so this brand may not be for anyone who prefers a statement sheet set.

Wide product offering can be overwhelming
With hundreds of thousands of bedding products available on its website, Walmart is a go-to retailer when it comes to shopping for budget-friendly bedding. Walmart sells just about everything you’d need to create your bedscape from start to finish, including sheet sets, blankets, comforters, mattress protectors, pillow shams, quilts, and bed skirts.
The retailer sells a number of different brands on its website, including Hotel Style, Mainstays, Better Homes & Gardens (Better Homes & Gardensis owned byThe Spruce'sparent company, Dotdash Meredith), and more. Because of this, you’ll definitely want to check reviews before purchasing, as the quality of each product can vary from seller to seller.
Our favorite sheets at Walmart include the Clara Clark 6 Piece 1800 Collection Bed Sheet Set, which has a wrinkle-resistant finish, breathable construction, and soft texture. We also like the Hotel Style 600 Thread Count 100% Luxury Cotton Sheet Set, as it had a silky-soft texture, looked elegant on the bed, and had a fitted sheet with 20-inch-deep pockets.
While the wide product offering can be overwhelming if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you can easily filter by in-store availability, brand, material, color, size, price, and more. And since there are so many brick-and-mortar stores across the country, you can easily opt for in-store pickup and returns whenever needed.
We have also used Walmart’s online customer service chat feature multiple times and found its team to be helpful and friendly. However, it’s important to note that although we’ve never had problems with shipping directly from Walmart, its third-party delivery service can be hit or miss, as we’ve had some issues with this in the past.

Product selection is smaller than other retailers
Not only does Coyuchi offer amazingly comfortable, well-made bedding, but the brand prides itself on its high environmental and ethical standards to ensure it’s a purchase you feel good about. The brand uses 100 percent organic cotton in all of its products, employs Fair Trade and sustainable manufacturing practices, and even has a recycling program to keep used bedding out of landfills.
You can find all sorts of organic bedding at Coyuchi, and many of its products have a very relaxed, lived-in aesthetic. It offers percale, sateen, flannel, jersey, and linen sheets, as well as latex pillows, down and wool duvets, and more.
We've tested Coyuchi's Organic Crinkled Percale Sheets, and we particularly liked the soft, crinkled weave that feels inviting and nicely broken in after just the first wash. Nicely breathable and cool for sleepers who run warm, we found the heavier weight of Coyuchi's percale weave and cotton fibers to be a standout option for year-round use.
We also love the Winter Weight Down Duvet Insert, which we found to be lofty and breathable in testing. It has a 600-fill power for weight and warmth and is perfectly oversized for added comfort.
We found that shopping on the site was intuitive and relatively easy, though the product selection is more limited at Coyuchi than other retailers on our list. Additionally, while shipping is free for any purchase over $300, smaller orders will have standard shipping fees applied. However, we love that you can return used items for up to one year for a store credit (returns made within 30 days get a full refund).

What We Don't Like
Fairly small selection
No shipping to Hawaii or Alaska
Riley is another direct-to-consumer bedding brand, and its claim to fame is offering hotel-quality linens at more affordable prices. The brand partners with family-owned textile mills in Portugal to ensure top-tier craftsmanship, and it offers a moderate selection of cotton and linen sheets, duvet covers, comforters, and blankets.
Though Riley offers a somewhat smaller product line currently, its products are well-made and thoughtful. Because of Riley’s limited catalog, we found the website easy to navigate and find what we were looking for.
We also like how easy this brand makes it to test out bedding. Riley has a 60-day return period for new or gently used products in original packaging, which gives you plenty of time to test out a set of sheets or a new comforter without worry. Plus, it offers free shipping and returns. Unfortunately, Riley only ships to the 48 contiguous United States.

We're especially partial to the brand's Stone Washed Linen Sheet Set, which is made from French flax linen and has a rustic, lived-in look that we love. Just keep in mind that The Citizenry doesn't offer twin-sized bedding options.
If you want to return an item and receive a refund, you have 30 days. There is no restocking fee when you return bedding, excluding throws, bed blankets, or decorative pillows. If you are looking to return bedding, it must be unwashed.

You can buy sheets, duvet covers, pillows, pillowcases, blankets, mattress pads, and more.
The retailer uses high-quality materials like cotton, eucalyptus, flax linen, and even its own patented blend of cooling fibers. We’re partial to Sijo’s TempTune Cotton Sheet Set, which is exceptionally breathable, has a lightweight yet cozy texture, and boasts a high-quality construction.
When using the Sijo website, we found that shopping around was fairly easy, but we did notice quite a few pop-ups and sale alerts when scrolling. West Elm may be known for its mid-century-inspired furniture and decor, but the retailer also offers a wide selection of bedding in a variety of textiles. The clean lines of its modern furnishings pair well with geometric prints, textured fabrics, and bold colors.

Quality can vary
If you’re looking to create a cozy bedscape, L.L. Bean has a moderately sized collection of bedding, including its iconic flannel sheets. Its selection was fairly easy to navigate with easy-to-use filters. You’ll find lots of plaids, woodsy prints, and faux shearling fabrics as you browse the bedding options, but don’t be fooled by the rusticness—many of its products are made from top-quality materials, including Egyptian cotton and premium goose down.
L.L. Bean is a particularly great retailer to shop if you're searching for winter bedding that'll offer layers of warmth and coziness for chilly temps. While you’ll find many great budget-friendly bedding options on L.L. Bean’s site, we especially love the retailer’s flannel sheets. Specifically, we're fans of the L.L. Bean Comfort Flannel Sheet Set, which we found soft right out of the package and even softer after washing.
L.L. Bean also offers a selection of other quality bedding products, like durable duvet covers. However, the quality can vary a bit across its selection, so you’ll want to check reviews before purchasing.
In general, we've had a pleasant experience shopping from L.L. Bean as a whole, and we especially love that it offers free shipping for orders over $75. Additionally, we appreciate that the brand offers a one-year return policy to ensure you truly love your new bedding.

What We Don't Like
Limited color and pattern options outside of pastels
For a crisp, coastal aesthetic, you can’t go wrong with Serena & Lily. This luxury retailer has everything you need to outfit your bed, including sateen, percale, and linen sheets, and its selection of quilts features a stunning array of fun patterns, many of which have subtle textured accents and a beachy blue-and-white theme. Plus, Serena & Lily has numerous “Design Shops” around the country where you can see swatches up close and get free design advice. (You can also order fabric swatches to review at home if you prefer.)
While much of Serena & Lily's bedding looks crisp, you'll find stylish details and touches throughout its catalog. From scallop-edged sateen duvet covers to lightweight stitched linen quilts to sheets with ruffle-edged hems, you can keep it simple and add a little flair at the same time.
Just keep in mind that Serena & Lily's bedding stays firmly within the coastal aesthetic, which means that you won't find much in the way of shades beyond pastels and crisp whites. However, if you're looking for clean and classic, the quality of the sheets, duvets, and shams makes the items well worth investing in.

Final Verdict
If you're looking for quality bedding, you can't go wrong with Coyuchi or Parachute bedding, both of which are well-made and well-priced thanks to direct-to-consumer business models. For bedding sets available at lower prices, consider Target or Amazon.
How We Tested
Here at The Spruce, we regularly test bedding in The Lab and our homes. (So far, we’ve tested 209 different sets of bed sheets alone!) To compile this list of the best places to buy bedding, we evaluated our experience with ordering from a variety of bedding retailers. We assessed how easy it was to navigate different company websites, contact customer service, and make returns if needed. We also noted expected delivery windows, shipping fees, and our delivery experiences.
Additionally, we considered the overall quality of each retailer’s bedding, the size of its catalog, and the general price point. We combined these insights with additional research and input from our editors and home testers to bring you this list.
When Is the Best Time to Buy Bedding On Sale?
Our list of the best places to buy bedding ranges from budget-friendly to luxury retailers, with pricing for items as low as $20 or as high as $300 (or more) in price. This means you can easily find sheet sets, comforters, pillowcases, blankets, and more at any price point.
However, whether you're looking to splurge or save, we recommend shopping during key times of the year when you can score bedding on sale. We suggest paying attention to end-of-season sales that retailers offer after summer and winter holidays—Labor Day and after Christmas sales are good times to find discounts. Retailers and manufacturers typically want to clear out their inventory for fresh products, which results in them offering major discounts on off-season products.
What to Look for When Buying Bedding
Range of Products
Our list of the best places to shop for bedding includes smaller direct-to-consumer brands that specialize in certain materials or offer exclusive colors and patterns, as well as larger stores that have just about everything. If you're shopping for bedding in a specialty size, such as twin XL or split king, you'll likely have more luck at larger retailers like Amazon or Target. Also, consider whether you need a full sheet set or just one piece of bedding. Since finding each piece can make shopping less convenient for some shoppers, we chose not to include options that only sell products individually on this list. And if you want to buy all your bedding in one go, look at places that also sell comforters, pillows, blankets, and mattress pads or toppers.
Price
One of the fastest ways to decide where to shop for bedding is to consider your budget. Many of our top picks offer high-quality bedding at reasonable prices, with some (like Amazon) offering frequent discounts and sales.
If you're looking for the absolute best quality out there, prepare to pay a premium. High-end sheets and other bedding are less likely to go on sale, but you will often be investing in materials that should last for years with proper care.
Return Policy
Return policies vary greatly when it comes to bedding, and they're important to note—especially when you're buying something you haven't seen in person. Some of our top picks offer a very lenient policy (such as Quince's one-year return policy), giving you plenty of time to try out your bedding before the return window closes. Others are more strict. Also, take note of any quirks in the policy, such as only being able to return bedding via mail instead of in-store. One good way to decrease the chance of returning? Some retailers offer free swatches, so you can test out colors and materials before committing.
