They'll be followed immediately by the men's and women's quarter-finals. Simmers is ranked at No.1, while Weston-Webb is one of few surfers to have scored a perfect 10 here.
Round 3 of the men's competition was unaffected, and a good thing too because it was superb. Gabriel Medina (BRA) produced an iconic moment that was awarded with a 9.90, the best single-wave score in Olympic history, Joao Chianca (BRA) and Ramzi Boukhiam (MOR) put on a show that might never be bettered, and Jack Robinson (AUS) put in a heroic effort fighting the elements to eliminate gold medal favorite John John Florence (U.S.). The quarter-finals are currently scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.
