From Tiny Seeds Grow Mighty Trees
Dr. Billharz comes from a family of doctors who have dedicated their lives to serving the people in their communities with care and compassion. Dr. Billharz went to college to follow in his family’s physician footsteps, but soon felt called to ministry by the Great Physician. He changed course and earned an undergraduate degree in Theology and Missions. The perspective he gained continues to influence his practice of medicine, as well as his love and appreciation for all people.
After serving several years in ministry, Dr. Billharz once again felt compelled to move back into medicine and graduated in 2009 with his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Utah. He then completed 3 years of Pediatric Specialty training at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. After 5 years of experience in a large pediatric office, Dr. Billharz was inspired to branch out and start his own practice. His vision was to create a medical practice that – from the ground up – emphasized excellent communication with parents and excellent medical care for children.
His dream of caring for patients with compassion and excellence came true in 2017 when he and his wife founded Redwood Pediatrics in Liberty, Missouri. It was their daughter who came up with the name as the family visited the Redwood forests on the Pacific coast. They learned that while the Redwood tree produces a tiny seed, about the size of a poppy seed, it grows into the largest of all trees (over 300 feet tall). This metaphor perfectly matched the heart of Dr. Billharz in treating his young patients: his desire is for every child to grow up healthy in body, strong and beautiful in heart and mind, and reaching their greatest individual potential. The Redwood tree is also extremely disease and fire-resistant, ensuring that the tree lives a long, productive, and healthy life. Dr. Billharz desires to give every parent and child the knowledge and tools they need so they can experience a long, productive, and healthy life as well. The practice has been modeled after the Redwood in several ways: striving to be strong, enduring, patient, beautiful, sustaining, and inspiring.
We invite you to experience a different kind of pediatric office: one where you are listened to and truly cared for, where your child can grow strong and beautiful, and where you will be inspired and empowered to provide the best care possible for your family.

Medically & Interpersonally Excellent
“Redwood Pediatrics isn’t just medically excellent; we are also interpersonally excellent. We listen carefully to each parent, caregiver, and patient every time we are talking with them, from the waiting room to the exam room. While receiving excellent care, you will also be highly educated on how to best care for your child. What we want for every child is the best possible care. Your child deserves that, and we are equipped to provide that to you and yourchild.”
