Our beloved matriarch, Lucy Marie Sorensen Stucki Sperry, passed away peacefully on January 4, 1998, in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 94 of causes incident to her age.

She was born December 3, 1903 in Ephraim, Utah, to Soren Christian Sorensen and Lillie Matilda Anderson Sorensen. Lucy graduated from Snow College and attended the University of Utah where she fell in love with William T. Stucki. They were married on January 16, 1924, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died August 5, 1977. She married Rulon J. Sperry on April 8, 1980, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died May 28, 1984.Lucy lived a full and productive life, being involved not only with her large family, but active in community affairs and in the LDS Church, holding numerous ward and stake positions. In 1944 she opened LaRie's Dress and Gift Shoppe in Sugarhouse, through which she achieved well-earned recognition for women in the business world. As owner and manager of this prestigious women's ready-to-wear store, she gained multiple honors. Her business thrived for over thirty years, eventually expanding to five other locations. Although she lived all of her life in Utah, Lucy traveled all over the world. She loved sharing her travel and gospel experiences with others.

Lucy brought her family together through planning family parties and gatherings for holidays and other special occasions. She was always very generous and encouraged and helped her posterity develop their talents. Visitors were always welcome at her home. She was talented in many areas, sharing her abilities in wood inlay, crocheting, tatting, needlepoint, sewing, and cooking with her family and many friends. She was known for her kind and loving nature, positive outlook, helpfulness, problem solving and leadership abilities. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one son, William Richard Stucki (Marjorie), Moab; and three daughters, Barbara Anderson (Richmond), Bountiful, Margaret Christensen (Lynnwood), Salt Lake City, and Bonnie Gudmundson (Ariel), Bountiful; and her sister Mabel Clayton and brother Calvin Sorensen (Becky), both of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her sister Fay Day and her brothers, Horace Sorensen, Maynard Sorensen, Morgan Sorensen, and Gordon Sorensen. She had 25 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 1998, at 10 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah, where friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah.
